Shaobeny Chanprell is a first year graduate student at the Valenti School of Communication pursuing a degree in public relations with a minor in mass communications. She hopes to use this degree as a stepping stone to become a professional or to continue her education in the School of Law studying communications law. While attending school full time, Shaobeny works full time as a quality analyst for Veteran Evaluation Service. There she communicates daily with medical providers and advocates for veterans to receive proper compensation for their service to the country.  In her free time, she takes her communication skills to the stage as a competitive slam poet. She currently holds the title of West Texas Slam Poetry Champion. During her first semester in graduate school, due to her commitment to excellence, Shaobeny made the Dean’s list, and is on track to do the same this semester. She hopes to graduate with high honors in the Spring of 2020. This summer, she will be working as a research assistant for Dr. Lan Ni studying crisis communication practices in the African American community.
