William Hawes Family Scholarship Endowment

The William Hawes Family Scholarship Endowment was started by the late Valenti professor Dr. William Hawes. Dr. Hawes held a doctorate from the University of Michigan. He taught at the University of Houston from 1956 until the time of his death in 2015. At that time, he had taught over 10,500 students.

Dr. Hawes authored seven books on television and film. He produced over 750 TV programs for KUHT or commercial stations and for four years managed KUHF-FM. To honor the students he has served, he established this scholarship. This scholarship is a tribute to the incredible life and legacy of Dr. Hawes, and his name will carries forward as he continues to impact the lives of Valenti students.
